SOS Planning Protests Against Bankers

AN LFC fans group today warned the club's bankers and potential buyers that thousands of supporters could protest on their doorstep. The threat was made after up to 7,000 Reds fans swarmed from the Liverpool Supporters Club to the Kop in a show of strength against American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.See our videos of the march by clicking here. The march was organised ahead of Liverpool's dismal on-pitch performance against Blackpool at Anfield. They lost 2-1 against the Premier League newcomers to fall to 18th. The result is likely to further fan the flames of anger directed at Hicks and Gillett. The pair are facing an October deadline to repay a £237m loan to their bank RBS. If they fail to raise the funds or agree a re-financing deal, the club will cease to be theirs. But supporters group Spirit of Shankly (SoS), which organised yesterday's rally, want part ownership to pass to the fans. It is hoping to heap pressure on the bank and any other potential buyers to consider giving supporters a stake in club.
