Liverpool To Bid For German Starlet

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson is keen on snapping up German Under 21 international Lewis Holtby in January. The Schalke winger has been in explosive form this season on loan at Mainz helping the relative minnows to the top of the Bundesliga table after seven straight wins and the pint sized wide man is now getting rave reviews and is now high up on the Anfield manager's wish list. Holtby is of English descent and may well be interested in a move to the Premier League after failing to make an impact at Schalke. A loan spell at Bochum last season brought him to the attention of the Bundesliga public but he was still seen as very much surplus to requirements by Felix Magath and his spell at Mainz may well act as a springboard to bigger and better things. Hodgson has been looking for more natural width and is looking to add more youthful talent to the club and even reports that Holtby is an Everton fan do not appear to have prevented interest in the 20 year old leading to a likely bid for the £8m rated starlet.
