Juventus midfielder Christian Poulsen will become a Liverpool player next week according to his agent.
Jorn Bonnesen held talks with Anfield representatives earlier this week over the prospect of the 30-year-old replacing Javier Mascherano at the heart of the Reds' midfield, should he fail to feature in Luigi Del Neri's plans at the Serie A club.
The wantaway Argentina captain was omitted from last night's Europa League win over FK Rabotnicki as Inter Milan look poised to offer him an escape from his three-year spell in England, which would pave the way for Poulson's arrival.
Jorn Bonnesen remains confident that a deal can be reached and expects the Denmark international, who played under manager Roy Hodgson during his time at FC Copenhagen, to be unveiled as a Liverpool player in the next seven days.
"It won't take more than a week before this is sorted out." Bonnesen told Ekstra Bladet.
"It might be already in the beginning of next week. Christian Poulsen is Roy's man.
"He will be playing as defensive midfielder at Liverpool. I returned home with a good and positive impression."
Meanwhile Liverpool have seen a £2million bid for Australian goalkeeper Brad Jones rejected by Middlesbrough, who are holding out for a higher offer before allowing the 28-year-old to leave the Riverside Stadium.
