Roy Hodgson has challenged Liverpool's fringe players to show him what they're capable of this summer and stake claims for regular first-team action in 2010-11.
The newly-appointed Reds boss will tell those who didn't always feature under Rafael Benitez that they will get a chance if they work hard in the coming weeks.
He said: "Whenever a new manager comes in, players who have been on the periphery start to see it and maybe think, 'This could be my chance, I'll have a go.'
"You'd be foolish as a manager not to give them that chance."
