Amoo, Suso Praised After Reserves Win

John McMahon believes
Liverpool Reserves are
beginning to see a more
ruthless David Amoo after the
winger struck both goals in the
2-0 triumph over Wolves on
Tuesday night.
The 19-year-old showed good
attacking instincts to net twice
inside the opening eight minutes
at Prenton Park, leaving the boss
delighted by his impact.
"He took his goals well,"
McMahon told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We
always look for him to get into
the box when the ball is out wide
on the other wing.
"We've put more of an emphasis
on him to get into positions to
score goals and we are pleased
with his contribution."
The victory means the second-
string have secured their first
win of the league season at the
third time of asking and
McMahon feels they were well
worth the three points following
an impressive first-half display.
"There are a lot of positives," he
said. "We played well, particularly
in the first-half and got our first
three points of the season. The
only negative was that we didn't
keep up that tempo in the
second half."
McMahon was also keen to praise
Jonjo Shelvey and Danny Wilson,
who both made their first starts
for the reserves.
"I thought both of them were
excellent," he added. "Shelvey
was very energetic in the first-
half and I thought he did very
well. I thought Wilson was very
comfortable at the back too."
McMahon's thoughts on Amoo
were echoed by the goalscorer
himself, who hopes to maintain
the form that has seen him find
the net on three occasions
already this season.
"It was good to get a couple of
goals," said Amoo.
"They both came from good
moves - the first was a good ball
in from Suso and then Steve
(Irwin) put me in for the second
one which I thought I'd missed
at first. Luckily enough I got the
rebound.
"I've just got to keep working
hard now and keep trying to get
into good positions."
