Carragher: Thank You Fans

Jamie Carragher believes that
Liverpool's fans have been an
integral factor in the removal of
George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
Earlier today the High Court
ruled in favour of the Royal
Bank of Scotland to allow New
England Sports Ventures to
complete their £300million
buyout of the club despite
strong opposition by the
current owners, with the Reds'
board set to meet this evening.
Carragher has hailed the
supporters' efforts and believes
that the impending takeover by
the owners of the Boston Red
Sox will provide a buzz around
Anfield after three-and-a-half
difficult years of Hicks and
Gillett's reign.
"To be fair to the fans, they've
got a right to complain about
the way it's gone," he told Talk
Sport.
"They're so passionate about
the club, and rightly so. All
supporters are like that really.
"I think a lot of the protests and
marches have happened before
and after the game so I don't
think it's affected things too
much within the stadium.
"The atmosphere this season
hasn't been too great because
the performances haven't been
too great. When the team's
playing well and scoring goals,
the supporters are delighted to
see that.
"A lot of the supporters will be
delighted with the outcome of
today, and rightly so, because
they've played their part and
should be proud of that.
"I'm sure this will give everyone
a feel-good factor and that can
only help us on the pitch and
with the atmosphere within
Anfield."
