Liverpool striker Fernando Torres lost patience with Barcelona ahead of publicly committing to the Reds last week, it has been revealed.
El Mundo Deportivo says Torres had no interest in joining money-bags Manchester City or Chelsea, despite the London club reportedly bidding £40m for the player.
Instead, the World Cup winner was reported to be “excited” about a move to La Liga champions.
The report sources a close friend of both Torres and Barca President Sandro Rosell – and claims that contact between the two was made before the new president was elected in July.
It suggested that the supposed deal was only going to be struck should flop signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic leave the Catalan giants.
