Liverpool are believed to have tabled a bid around the £9m mark for PSV Eindhoven forward Ola Toivonen.
The Swedish forward from current Eredivisie leaders on goal difference PSV Eindhoven, who can also adapt to a deeper midfield role, has been a rumoured target of Roy Hodgson over the last couple of weeks. The striker has so far hit 24 goals in 49 appearances for PSV, including 4 goals in 42 mins in a 5-1 win over Den Haag last season.
The 24-year-old who has represented Sweden at U21 level and also as a full international, has been recognised as possible attacking support for Fernando Torres, alongside David Ngog, to unload some of the burden placed upon the star Spaniard over a expected long season.
Despite being played in PSV’s Europa League tie against Sibir Novosibirsk on Thursday and therefore becoming cup tied in Europe for the present time, Hodgson’s interest is believed to be very high in securing the services of the player before the transfer window closes. Hodgson has already confirmed interest in the player two days where he stated “We have watched him (Toivonen) but I can’t give you any further indication,”.
Updates are expected shortly from PSV who have already confirmed they would certainly listen to realistic offers for the player, Spurs have also been credited with interest in the striker in recent days.
