Santa Cruz And Wayne Bridge Set For Liverpool

Manchester City duo Roque Santa Cruz and Wayne Bridge could both make a move to Liverpool in the next week with Roberto Mancini prepared to let both men leave on cut-price transfers, according to reports.

Reds manager Roy Hodgson is currently using centre-back Daniel Agger as a makeshift left-back in the absence of a genuine specialist and is keen to add to his options as soon as possible.
Former England international Bridge, who ruled himself out of selection for the World Cup over allegations of an affair between ex-captain John Terry and his former fiancee Vanessa Perroncel, looks set to play second fiddle to new signing Alexander Kolarov at City this season.
And he is thought to be keen on a move to Anfield, caughtoffside.com reports, where he would link up with a fellow former Chelsea star in Joe Cole.
Santa Cruz is expected to be surplus to requirements at Eastlands, where there are already several strikers vying for a place in the squad - let alone the starting XI.
Liverpool are still searching for a back-up for Fernando Torres, having missed out on another City reject in the form of Craig Bellamy, and would be prepared to take a gamble on the injury-prone Paraguayan.
The 29-year-old has hardly played under Mancini, having suffered a spate of injury problems having been signed by his predecessor Mark Hughes.
And although Liverpool would expect to pay less than £10million for Santa Cruz, they could face competition from the former City boss who is now in charge at Fulham.
