Liverpool Target Mainz Superstar

Liverpool are preparing a move for Mainz star Lewis Holtby in January. The player is yet unsure as to whether to commit to Germany or England having only played at U-21 level thus far.
Holtby has been in top form for the Bundesliga Club this season, culminating in the team sitting pretty at the top of the division with 21 points from seven matches. He would certainly add some flair to Liverpool which is something they have been lacking more some time.
Whilst Holtby is an Everton fan he is open to suggestions with a move to Liverpool not out of the question. Despite Mainz doing particularly well this season, they are very much a selling club and selling the 20 year old in January for around £9m would certainly appeal financially to the club.
The main issue for Liverpool will be who the owners of Anfield are in January, although it is believed that either set of owners would be making cash available for Kop boss Roy Hodgson during that window it is more likely that much more money will be provided should the takeover be completed.
Many feel that the players and manager’s are to blame for Liverpool’s Premiership position and to an extent this is true. Bringing in fresh talent like Holtby will not be a quick fix to the problems but at 20 years old, will be a player that will add quality to Liverpool football club for a long time to come.
