Kelly Fit For Blackpool Clash

MARTIN KELLY has soothed a
potential headache for Roy
Hodgson after he was declared
fit to take his place in Liverpool ’s
squad for tomorrow’s clash with
Blackpool.
The Reds boss was facing a
massive problem at left-back as
the specialists in the position
Paul Konchesky (hamstring) and
Fabio Aurelio (Achilles tendon)
are definitely out.
Aside from that, Daniel Agger has
not recovered from the groin
problem which ruled him out of
the squad that travelled to
Utrecht on Thursday.
Hodgson had been worried that
Kelly, who can fill in at left-back,
would also miss out after picking
up a knock in the 0-0 Europa
League draw.
However, the England Under-21
international trained with the
squad at Melwood yesterday and
Kelly is now expected to make his
first start in the Premier League.
Fernando Torres will also be in
the squad for the first meeting
with Blackpool since 1971, as
Liverpool played down fears he
had suffered an injury in Utrecht.
Liverpool are desperate to sign
off before the international break
by collecting three points for only
the second time this season but
Christian Poulsen knows it will
not be a foregone conclusion.
Poulsen has had a baptism of fire
since joining the Reds and has
admitted his first six weeks at
the club have been a learning
curve.
