Rafa Benitez has blasted the
directors of his former club
Liverpool, saying they "knew
nothing about soccer".
Since being sacked from Anfield
after six years in charge, the
Inter Milan coach has been
uncharacteristically quiet about
the circumstances in which he
left the Premier League club up
until now.
He said: "The last year I had
directors who knew nothing
about soccer and you couldn't
talk about soccer with them."
His strained relationship with
Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and
George Gillett, who put the debt-
ridden club up for sale in April, is
in sharp contrast to his dealings
with Internazionale owner
Massimo Moratti.
"My relationship with Moratti is
really good," said the Spaniard.
"He is a man who knows his
football."
Benitez took over from Jose
Mourinho after Inter won an
unprecedented Italian treble last
season.
