Carragher Hails Club Sale

Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool's impending takeover can only be a 'good thing' for the club. A £300million bid from New England Sports Ventures to win control of George Gillett and Tom Hicks' controlling shares at Liverpool was accepted this morning, subject to legal challenges from the duo and ratification by the Premier League The ownership cloud has hung over Anfield for over three years and veteran defender Carragher, 32, is hopeful of a swift resolution in order to restore the club's fortunes both on and off the pitch. He said: "Everyone knows it'll be a good thing for the club. "Hopefully it will be sorted sooner rather than later and we can start looking forward on the pitch and start improving results, which is what we need to do."
