Masch Agrees Barca Terms, Waits On Liverpool Answer

Reports today claim that Javier Mascherano has agreed terms on a contract with Spanish champions Barcelona – but a fee has not been agreed with Liverpool.
Barcelona are said to have offered Alexander Hleb and Martin Cáceres along with £12m for the Argentine midfielder, but the Liverpool hierarchy are not happy to accept this offer.
Liverpool are said to be holding out for £25m – which they quoted Inter Milan last month – which throws into doubt how highly Roy Hodgson rates Hleb and Cáceres if he does not believe they combine to make up £13m.
Whether Barcelona, who are believed to have debts of more than £350m, can up their offer is unclear, but they appear determined to sign Mascherano after missing out on Cesc Fabregas.
Cáceres, a Uruguay international defender, spent last season on loan at Italian giants Juventus after struggling to break into the Barcelona team during the 2008-9 season.
Hleb has been told to find a new club by Pep Guardiola, the Barcelona manager, after spending last season on loan at German side VfB Stuttfgart.
