50-year old Johnston, who won 5 league titles with the Reds in the 1980s, told his fellow Australian that moving up to England’s top flight was a huge move and one he needs to be ready for.
''It is like being elevated to the top of the class,'' Johnston said.
''You feel very, very special but at the same time you are terrified because you know the expectations are that much higher and many a good player have made a move to a big club and failed.''
