Given his recent history at Liverpool, Benayoun is certainly entitled to offer his opinion on where it has gone wrong. He has already had his say on Rafa Benitez, accusing his former manager of showing him a lack of respect, while he does not buy into the concept that much maligned co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are responsible for all of Liverpool's woes.
"Like everyone, we saw things in the newspaper but we cannot say it affected the players on the pitch," said Benayoun of Liverpool's boardroom problems.
"We just didn't perform well in a lot of games. It was our responsibility because the year before we proved we could play and we finished second, we almost won the League and we didn't change much so like I say it was our fault and that's it."
