Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could do worse than to pick the phone up and give the Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson some tips on how to deal with Barcelona and the methods they use when the Spanish champions want a player.
When Barcelona wanted Cesc Fabregas to leave The Emirates and make his new home The Nou Camp they employed a huge variety of tactics from forcing a Barcelona shirt on to Fabregas to constant leaking from the cleaning lady right up to the club Presidents, saying how Fabregas wants to leave The Gunners, now it is Liverpool’s turn it seems.
At least three players have come out and stated that Javier Mascherano should join Barcelona and the Spanish press are reporting leak after leak claiming that Mascherano is desperate to leave Anfield and that he is even refusing to play any further games for Hodgson.
Uefa will obviously do nothing whatsoever about this behaviour, they did nothing at all when Barcelona used illegal tactics to try and get Fabregas and now that they know how far they can actually go with these sort of actions, it was hardly surprising that they would employ them against Liverpool.
There is still a very good chance that Mascherano will leave Anfield but one should hope that he does not, Barcelona need to be shown once and for all that the way they behave will not get them what they want.
Thats probably wishful thinking though.
