Real Madrid Make Gerrard Swap Offer

Real Madrid will offer Rafael van der Vaart or Fernando Gago in part-exchange to prise Steven Gerrard from Liverpool.
Real boss Jose Mourinho is determined to sign Gerrard after twice missing out on him at Chelsea. He believes the England skipper is open to a move but Real don’t want to pay over £20million.
Gerrard has still to publicly commit his future to Anfield, despite meeting new boss Roy Hodgson on Thursday evening for talks.
Hodgson has made hanging on to Gerrard – and Fernando Torres and Javier Mascherano – his top priority, but admits he cannot stop them if they want to go. Barcelona remain keen on Mascherano and will use the £24m from Yaya Toure’s sale to Manchester City to fund a bid.
Hodgson feels his job would be easier if owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks go. “The sooner that happens the better,” he said.
