Mascherano Hopeful Of Dream Inter Move

Javier Mascherano is happy to be the subject of interest of top clubs and would welcome a dream move to Inter Milan, according to his agent.

The wantaway Liverpool midfielder has been heavily tipped to leave Merseyside this summer following a poor campaign and the departure of Rafael Benitez, with both the European champions and Barcelona both keen to secure his services.

Mascherano has yet to hold talks with Roy Hodgson but is expected to hand a transfer request to the new Reds manager when he reports back to Melwood for pre-season training.

Walter Tamer, who represents the 26-year-old, is hopeful that his client will be allowed to link up with Benitez and play alongside several of his compatriots at the San Siro.

He said: "After the World Cup, he has switched off but it's clear that he is happy to be a target of top clubs in the transfer market.

"Last season, it was the European champions Barcelona that wanted him and this year it's Inter, the current Champions League winners.

"For him to be linked to Inter has a magical taste. It's a dream.

"Think about it, the strongest team in the world wants him, a team where many of Mascherano's compatriots play and a side that is guided by a coach with whom Mascherano has a personal bond."
