10 Facts About Joe Cole

Liverpool today announced the free transfer signing of Joe Cole - but what do you really know about the former Chelsea star?

1) Joe was born on November 8, 1981 and shares a birthday with Brazilian footballer Luis Fabiano and American Pie actress Tara Reid.
2) Despite playing for Chelsea, Joe is no stranger to donning red, having taken on the role of Father Christmas for the past decade! The 28-year-old makes an annual trip to London's Richard House Children's Hospice, where he hands out gifts he has bought for seriously ill children.
3) Joe's other-half - fitness instructor Carly Zucker - featured on a recent series of I'm a Celebrity Get Me out of Here.
4) Cole has singled out two opponents he has relished facing the most over the past 10 years. "I used to love playing against Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira," he said. "They were the two best players in their position in the world at the time and I used to really enjoy the challenge as an 18, 19, 20-year-old. "

6) As a teen prodigy with West Ham, Cole not only helped the Hammers secure a 9-0 aggregate triumph in the 1999 FA Youth Cup final, but he also scored seven of England's eight goals in a youth international against Spain.
7) In 2006 he came fourth in the Independent's list of Britain's happiest people.
8) Cole's wonder strike in the 2006 World Cup encounter against Sweden was ranked amongst the top 10 goals of the tournament on the BBC website.
9) His first Barclays Premier League goal came in February 2000, when he was on target in West Ham's enthralling 5-4 victory over Bradford at Upton Park.
10) Cole's role in Chelsea's 2006 title triumph saw him named in the PFA Premiership team of the year.
