Juventus Set To Swoop For Glen Johnson

Juventus are ready to step up their interest in Liverpool right back Glen Johnson amid a crisis of confidence in the Serie A giants' defence. The Italians have long admired the England international - but he has now jumped to the top of their January wish list because of problems across Luigi del Neri's back four.
Regular right back Zdenek Grygera will miss at least the rest of the month with knee ligament damage and stand-in Marco Motta has been alarmingly poor, despite Juve picking up a confidence-boosting 2-1 win at AC Milan on Saturday. The result relieved the pressure on Del Neri, but his side are still seven points behind Serie A leaders Lazio and sit in fourth place. A full back for each side is being sought and Juve believe they can tempt Johnson while Liverpool struggle at the foot of the Barclays Premier League. However, any deal for the 26- year-old would not be cheap and new Anfield owner John W Henry insists the club are not under pressure to sell.
