Defour Top Priority At Liverpool

Standard Liege's Steven Defour is wanted by at least seven club's according to his agent, of which Liverpool are thought to be one. The 22-year-old midfielder won player of the year in 2008 in Belgium before a broken leg sidelined him for much of last season. Manchester United are the favourites, but with money expected from the new owners, Roy Hodgson is also believed to want the talented midfielder and his agent has confirmed there is plenty of interest in his client. Defour's agent Paul Stefani told Sport.co.uk: "He is playing really well and has reacted well since his return from injury. He is playing well but he needs three or four games to be better than 100 per cent and prove himself in his position. "Yes, it is true he is being watched. "He is being monitored by seven clubs at the moment from England, France, Spain and Italy." Whilst a move next summer looks to be on the cards, Stefani has not ruled out a move in the New Year. He added: "We don't know. "It depends on the club and whether or not there is a big move in the January window that could see other people move. "I have received positive phone calls from clubs in the UK, who have said they can do things, so we will wait and see."
