Liverpool striker
Fernando Torres has been
declared fit to face Everton in
Sunday's Merseyside derby at
Goodison Park.
The Spain international sustained
an adductor strain early in the
2-1 home defeat to Blackpool on
October 3 and was considered a
doubt for what has become an
increasingly significant match.
But boss Roy Hodgson has been
boosted by the return of the 26-
year-old, as well as left-back Paul
Konchesky who strained a
hamstring in the 2-2 draw with
Sunderland late last month.
The positive news arrives at the
end of a troubled week for the
club, who have seen their board
in and out of the High Court in an
effort to force unpopular US
owners Tom Hicks and George
Gillett to relinquish their hold on
the club.
However, forward Dirk Kuyt will
be out for three to four weeks
with an ankle problem sustained
on international duty.
"Konchesky has made a good
recovery as has Fernando Torres
so all being well we can welcome
those two back," said Hodgson.
