Liverpool Sold To Baseball Giant, Claim Reports

Liverpool Football Club is to be sold to the owners of the Boston Red Sox, according to Sky News sources. Liverpool's ownership has been at the centre of a bitter boardroom battle An official announcement is expected from the club shortly. Sky News' City editor Mark Kleinman said: "I can reveal that there is now only one bidder in the frame. "Last night, a deal was agreed to sell Liverpool Football Club to New England Sports Ventures, the owner of the Boston Red Sox. "Given this is now subject to legal challenge from the current owners, it's safe to say that completing a deal is still going to be pretty tricky. "My understanding is the statement will say the deal is conditional on the approval of the Premier League, but also the resolution of this legal dispute between the independent members of the Liverpool board led by Martin Broughton and the current owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett."
