Liverpool striker Fernando Torres
has highlighted Wayne Rooney
as the main danger for Roy
Hodgson ’s side when they visit
Manchester United on Sunday.
The Manchester United star has
endured a torrid few weeks due
to the revelations about the 24-
year-old ’s private life, but Torres
suggests Rooney is still Sir Alex
Ferguson ’s most dangerous
player, even though he
acknowledges the likes of Ryan
Giggs and Paul Scholes have
begun the season in fine form.
In addition to praising the
obvious talents of Rooney, Torres
claims the Manchester United
striker is “a funny guy” and that
the pair of them get on well off
the pitch.
The Liverpool star told the BBC's
Match of the Day magazine: "They
[United] have some amazing
players, but I think Wayne
Rooney is their stand out player.
"Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs
have had great starts to the
season though, and if they were
still in the 20's then I don't think
my decision would be quite so
easy.
"I really like Wayne Rooney, I
think he is a great player and a
funny guy, so we usually have a
little chat at the end of the
game."
