HongKong Businessman Leads 5-Way Takeover Race

Reports suggest a Hong Kong
businessman is the most likely
current interested party to take
control of Liverpool Football Club.
Sources at Barclays Capital
(BARCAP) who were drafted in by
George Gillette and Tom Hicks to
oversee the sale process are
identifying the individual as a
potential successful bidder.
There is no suggestion that
Kenny Huang, who publicly
withdrew his stated interest last
month, has come back on to the
scene.
At present there is also little
information on the structure of
any proposal though BARCAP will
not get involved in offering
finance.
It is said up to five bidders are at
an advanced stage of due
diligence.
The BARCAP source also revealed
frustration at the current owners
who were described as
"unreachable" and said that
"unrealistic valuations are driving
us insane."
