Hamann Eyes Liverpool Return

Dietmar Hamann has revealed
that he would relish a return to
Liverpool.
The defensive midfielder is
currently a player-coach with
League One side MK Dons but
spent a brief spell at his former
club's youth academy in Kirkby
after his contract with
Manchester City expired in
2009.
Whilst Hamann, 37, is enjoying
his time with Dons manager
Karl Robinson and fellow
backroom staff members Alex
Rae and John Gorman, he
admits that he would relish the
prospect of returning to Anfield
and possibly managing the club
where he spent seven years.
"I can gain invaluable
experience and learn things
from Karl, Alex and John every
day while I am doing my
coaching badges. I want to play
this year and then see.
"For the last few years, I have
thought about what I would say
to the players at half-time if I
was the manager. Here, Karl,
myself and the other coaches
go into the office for a minute
or two at half-time to talk about
things before we go into the
dressing room.
"When I have my Pro licence, I
will see where I am wanted. I
would like to stay in this
country but you never know.
"And it would be nice to go
back to Liverpool one day and
to work in some capacity, play
some part. Obviously to manage
them would be a dream come
true."
During his illustrious Anfield
career Hamann, who scored the
last goal at the old Wembley
stadium, lifted two League Cups,
two FA Cups, two European
Super Cups and was an
influential second-half
substitute in the Reds'
triumphant Champions League
win in 2005.
