Babel Wants Fans To Trust Him

Ryan Babel is hoping this will be
the season he will be able to
fulfil his potential at Liverpool.
The Dutchman arrived at Anfield
in 2007 and has showed many
glimpses of his talent, but he's
hoping the arrival of Roy
Hodgson as manager will help
him produce his best on a more
consistent basis.
"A lot of people still doubt my
quality or whether I'm good
enough to play for Liverpool," he
admitted in an exclusive
interview with LFC Weekly. "I
hope, finally, with a little bit of
help from everyone here, that I
can give something back to the
fans and to the club.
"For me, consistency is the key. I
need to start regularly and then
play well on a consistent basis.
When the boss trusts me by
playing me I aim to reward that
trust."
Babel has often been deployed as
a wide man during his Anfield
career but hopes regular
opportunities in his favoured
striking role will help him
flourish.
"I aim to be a striker," he
continued. "The manager has
told me that up front is where he
wants to use me. That's positive.
Now I have to show him in
training sessions that I can do
the job. If I do that I will get
chances to play in that position."
The full Ryan Babel interview,
plus a Forgotten Seasons feature
on the 1952-53 campaign, are in
this week's LFC Weekly. Also
included: What Dr Peter Brukner
and his sports science team do in
an average week to keep the
Reds squad fit.
