Dane Poulsen’s childhood centred around watching as many English games as he could on TV.
And Poulsen, 30, insists Liverpool will always be bigger than Arab-owned City.
Even Manchester rivals United overshadow City says Poulsen – despite Blues boss Roberto Mancini splashing £130million this summer.
Poulsen reckons history will always master City’s mega spending.
And Liverpool’s great history – 18 titles and five European Cups – are what attracted defensive midfielder Poulsen to leave Juventus for £4.5m.

Poulsen said: “You can’t compare City with the history of Liverpool and United.
“In Denmark we really love English football.
“It will take some time for City. Four or five years ago the Premier League was United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea.
“Now you have teams like City and Spurs. But in Denmark, Liverpool are No.1. You see the history, it’s really something special.
“When you are at Melwood and Anfield, there’s a really big history.
“We have a really strong squad and will be at the top of the league this season.
“We showed against Arsenal we are ready to battle with all the big teams in England.
“It’s the strongest league in the world and I’m looking forward to playing in it.
“Spain is strong too – but you are pretty sure that one-two will be Barcelona and Real Madrid.’’
Poulsen has a strong connection to Roberto Mancini’s fiery new boy – £23m Mario Balotelli.
He’s played against the former Inter Milan striker in Serie A and knows what a handful he will be at City tomorrow night.
