Liverpool Want Poulsen To Debut Against Arsenal

Liverpool are hoping to sign Christian Poulsen from Juventus in time for him to make his debut against Arsenal on Sunday.

The midfielder was given permission to withdraw from Denmark's squad for the friendly with Germany this week as negotiations are stepped up on all sides to conclude the transfer.
Poulsen's representative Joern Bonnesen revealed last week that he expected the deal to go through early this week and the 30-year-old was once again looking forward to teaming up with Reds boss Roy Hodgson after the pair worked together between 2000 and 2002 at FC Copenhagen.
Denmark coach Morten Olsen has let Poulsen withdraw from his squad to play the Germans this week and he will instead head to Merseyside for further talks with the Reds before the deal is expected to be confirmed.
Hodgson is eager to tie up the deal and get Polusen on board as Javier Mascherano's future remains uncertain amid interest from Inter Milan, while Liverpool's other holding midfielder, Lucas, is only due back in the UK on Friday as he is involved in Brazil's game against the USA in New Jersey on Wednesday.
