Liverpool Target Carlton Cole And Behrami Swoop

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson could be interested in making a double Upton Park swoop for England striker Carlton Cole and Swiss international Valon Behrami. The Hammers pair have both been linked with moves away from east London and may feel even more compelled to leave after a truly shocking opening day performance at Villa Park.Cole looked a forlorn figure leading the line against Aston Villa and his club placed a £20m price tag on his head, implying that he was available for sale, for the right price. In fact earlier in the summer co-owner David Sullivan made a point of saying that every West Ham player had a price on their heads, except Scott Parker.
Valon Behrami is the kind of utility player that Hodgson would love to have in his Anfield armoury and the 25 year old former Lazio man has been the subject of much interest both in England and back in Serie A, where he first made his name.
The Merseyside outfit are of course having to work with a tight transfer budget but if Javier Mascherano leaves then Hodgson may have money to re-invest in his squad. Both players would help beef up their strength in depth and are worth around £22m as a pair but some may wonder if Cole is the right man to work alongside Fernando Torres in the Liverpool attack.
