Juventus are keen on Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos and could offer David Trezeguet in return for the Greece defender.
The Italians expect to complete the loan signing of Alberto Aquilani from Liverpool later on Tuesday - a move that has been slowed by thorough medical checks on the injury-hit midfielder.
The Reds also signed Denmark midfielder Christian Poulsen from Juve earlier this month, but talks between the two clubs aren’t done yet.
The Serie A side are looking for a new home for 32-year-old France striker Trezeguet, who has also interested Spanish clubs, and he has been touted as an alternative to struggling Fernando Torres at Anfield.
Trezeguet’s agent Antonio Caliendo said: ‘It is true that Liverpool are interested, but they are not the only team. Zaragoza and Hercules are also interested in him. We are evaluating and, after a day of reflection, we will consider what action to take.’
Juve boss Luigi Del Neri wants to add a defender and reports in Italy suggest Kyrgiakos has emerged as a target. The Greece international only arrived from AEK Athens for £2million last summer, but Liverpool are well-stocked with central defenders - including Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and new boy Danny Wilson.
Argentina left back Emiliano Insua could also be offered to the Turin side.
