El Principino thankful to Juventus

Liverpool’s Alberto Aquilani Thanks Juventus for Opportunity to Make Mark.

Close to inking a one-year loan deal to leave Liverpool for Juventus, Alberto Aquilani has said he is happy to be heading back to Italy. The midfielder, who had suffered injury problems which blighted his first season at Anfield, was surprisingly made available for loan by new Reds boss Roy Hodgson, just as he had regained his fitness ready for the new campaign.

Aquilani himself has been surprised by developments, but is happy to head home.

"I am happy to go home", said the former Roma player. "I was at Liverpool, but I need to play, possibly with some continuity. I can only thank Juventus for the opportunity they have given me."

Aquilani also went on to tell Corriere dello Sport that he hoped he could help Juventus do something special in Serie A this season and he also believes playing in Italy will help him push his case for a recall to the national team.

For Liverpool the deal appears a strange one as a fully fit Alberto Aquilani is rated amongst the best midfielders in the world, especially in Italy. As the Anfield side may also lose Javier Mascherano before the transfer window closes, in essence the duo, rated at a combined £50M, will have been replaced by the £5M Christian Poulsen.
