Liverpool expect to finalise a £5.5m deal for Juventus midfielder Poulsen within the next 24 hours.
Olsen said: "I was happy to release Christian because this is a very important move for him and for us.
"We can benefit as a national team because he will be playing at a high level and he'll be happy playing for a manager who rates him highly. That should help bring the best out of him."
