Torres Set To Start Against Arsenal On Aug 15

Liverpool have been given a boost after receiving the news that Fernando Torres could be fit for the start of the new season.

Torres is still on course for the start of the Premier League
The Spanish FA said earlier on Wednesday that Torres suffered a minor tear to his groin in the World Cup final with Holland on Sunday.
Torres was told to expect a lengthy spell on the sidelines. However, Liverpool’s medical staff believe the Spaniard should be ready for action in three weeks.
Although Torres will miss the whole of pre-season, the club are hopeful the 26-year-old will be ready for their opening league fixture against Arsenal on 15th August.
Liverpool’s head of sports science and medicine Peter Brukner said: “The initial assessment was he had a mild adductor tear and the Spanish medial staff didn’t consider it to be too serious at the time.
“He had an MRI scan yesterday which confirmed a small tear. He should be able to resume training within two to three weeks and be able to play again within three to four weeks.”
