Liverpool Set To Sign Luke Young

Liverpool have agreed a £2.5 million fee with Aston Villa for Luke Young.
The 31-year-old defender who can operate at either right or left back was subject to Roy Hodgson's interest last term while at Fulham. Villa are cashing in on a player who rarely featured in recent months and had been informed he could look elsewhere.
A retired England international Fabio Capello tried to coax him back into the fold during November 2009.
Young has changed hands for a culmaltive total of £10.5 million so far during his career.
Though Emilaino Insua' s transfer to Fiorentina is stalling over personal terms the deal could still go ahead and Philipp Degen, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield, will leave before the transfer window closes on 31 August.
Sunderland were keen to sign Young but could not match his wage demands. The player will still gave to agree terms with the Reds.
Earlier today the Aston Villa official website reported manager Martin O'Neill's comments on a bid by an unamed Premiership club for Young.
"There has been an offer from a football club, which Luke is mulling over and if it doesn’t materialize then he would also join us [for pre-season games in Portugal] because he needs to play some football soon. We will see how that develops," O'Neill said.
