Liverpool are being linked with a surprise move for Norwegian striker Marcus Pedersen.
It's the second time the Reds have been linked with Pedersen, who came to Anfield four years ago on trial after shining at youth level for hometown club HamKam.
Despite not being offered terms at the Premier League club, Pedersen returned to Norway and built on his reputation after debuting for the club's senior side in 2007.
Two years later, his current Norwegian Premier League club made a free transfer move in January. Pedersen became an instant hit at Stromsgodset, scoring ten goals in 24 appearances during his debut campaign at the top level.
The current season has started well too for Pedersen, and Norwegian paper Dagbladet reports that the Reds have sent scouts to monitor the highly-rated youngster.
Stromsgodset official Jostein Flo confirmed that there's interest in the player, but revealed that no bids have been tabled for Pedersen's services.
"There are several clubs who have followed him for a long time. But we have not yet received any bids for him," said Flo.
New boss Roy Hodgson has a plethora of young talent at Anfield after the recent signings of Raheem Sterling and Jonjo Shelvey, with Joe Cole a more senior and instant acquisition this summer.
Pedersen would add to the list of young signings on Merseyside should the club make a move, although teams from Italy, Celtic and Newcastle are all thought to be keen on challenging the Reds.
