Liverpool have confirmed Joe Cole has passed his medical, completing his four-year switch to the Merseyside club.
Cole becomes the Reds' second signing of the summer, arriving on a free transfer following his departure from Chelsea. The England international took part in his first training session with the club at their pre-season camp in Austria on Wednesday morning.
Contrary to reports, Cole has been handed the famous No. 10 jersey previously warn with great distinction by the likes of John Barnes and Terry McDermott. The last player to wear the number was Andriy Voronin.
A statement on the official Liverpool website reads: "Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce that Joe Cole has put pen to paper on a four-year deal.
"The England international has passed his medical and has been allocated the squad No. 10."
Meanwhile, Liverpool have confirmed that Swiss defender Philipp Degen will be permitted to leave the club this summer.
