Liverpool could be set to land a player swap deal with AC Milan that would see Klaas Jan Huntelaar move to Anfield, with Ryan Babel going the other way, according to reports in the Italian press today.
The Reds are on the look out for a new striker to help bolster the attack with Fernando Torres, Milan Jovanovic, David N’gog and youngster Dani Pacheco currently leading the line.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport suggests Liverpool are leading the race to sign Huntelaar, with the likes of Everton, Manchester Utd and Manchester City also said to be interested.
A swap deal could suit Liverpool tremendously, given the current financial problems at the club, whilst Milan are said to be keen on Babel.
However, Milan would most likely be looking for cash as well, with Huntelaar costing them € 15million this time last year.
Huntelaar, 26, would join fellow Dutch international Dirk Kuyt at Anfield should the deal go through.
Meanwhile, Philipp Degen has reportedly caught the interest of Stuttgart according to the German media. Degen was told this week that he is free to look for a new club.
