Hodgson Wants Wayne Bridge At Anfield
ROY HODGSON’s English recruitment drive at Liverpool will continue with an £8million move for Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge.
Hodgson has already snapped up Chelsea’s Joe Cole on a free transfer and also persuaded Steven Gerrard to stay at Anfield. But he wants to add another Englishman to his stable in left-back Bridge, whose place at City is under threat with the imminent recruitment of £17m Serb Aleksandar Kolarov from Lazio.
Liverpool’s activity in the transfer marker could be boosted further by the sale of Javier Mascherano, with Inter Milan upping their interest in the Argentina midfielder.
Liverpool will want at least £25m to sanction his departure.
Bridge, 29, joined City last January from Chelsea for £10m and his time at Eastlands has been regarded as a success.
Hodgson has also been linked with a move for Paul Konchesky, at his former club Fulham, as a fall-back if the bid for Bridge fails.
