Chelsea will make an opening £30 million offer for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres after the World Cup final.
The Daily Star says the Blues hope they can tempt the Spain striker with a contract worth £120,000 a week.
Liverpool paid Atletico Madrid £26.5m for Torres three years ago and look certain to rebuff the Blues’ initial approach.
The Anfield outfit value Torres at closer to £50m and if they sell their star striker will want the highest fee possible, with mega-rich Manchester City also keen.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was in Durban to see Spain reach the World Cup Final for the first time by beating Germany. Torres was surprisingly left out by Spain, coming on for just the last nine minutes.
In previous games he had appeared to be short of full fitness following a knee injury.
