Chelsea launch record £50m bid for Torres

Chelsea have reportedly made a record £50m for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.
Roy Hodgson yesterday claimed that the Spaniard would be staying at Anfield next season, and the Reds are believed to have already rejected a £40m bid from Chelsea.
Roman Abramovich is determined to get his man, however, and newspaper reports claim a Chelsea source said:
"It's true Liverpool have knocked back the first bid of £40m but it's highly unlikely that will be the end to it."Let's see what happens when an offer of £50m lands on Christian Purslow's desk."
Torres has yet to issue a definitive statement on his future.
