Liverpool still have some obstacles to overcome to land Nice striker Loic Remy.
The Mirror says the Anfield club face a bizarre twist in their £12m chase for Remy - because of a secret deal between Nice and Lyon.
Remy's old club Lyon let the striker go to Nice a couple of years ago but demanded first option if he moved on.
That would give Liverpool only a week to agree a fee - and then wait to see if Lyon match it - before registering the 23-year-old for the Europa League.
Remy has dropped heavy hints that he wants a move to Merseyside.
But that will not stop Lyon from exercising the strange clause to see if they can force him to change his mind.
