Serbian Star Backtracks On Anfield Commitment

Just last week, fresh from his winning goal against Germany, Milan Jovanovic confirmed that he'd be joining Liverpool as arranged. However the Serbian has now cast doubt over this move by hinting that he himself or the Reds could revoke this agreement, as he explained to Tuttomercatoweb:

'There is an agreement signed with Liverpool, but if either party wants to end it, it's not impossible.'

Tuttomercatoweb is an Italian website and this comes following rumours that Inter Milan have expressed an interest in Jovanovic following Rafa's move to take over the Italian side. The Serbian international has agreed a pre contract with the Reds but this needs to be finalised and Inter could yet hijack this move?

I wouldn't rule out anything happening however I'd be very disappointed if Jovanovic went back on what he said last week when he assured Liverpool supporters that he would honour the agreement and come to Anfield at the end of his Standard Liege contract.

Stars May Leave Anfield

According to media reports Javier Mascherano, Fernando Torres and Emiliano Insua are the reds most likely to head out of Anfield this summer.

Milan Jovanovic, due to arrive on a free transfer after the World Cup, could damage Liverpool’s striker shortage even more by instead following Rafa to Inter Milan.  It is understood that Liverpool Football Club have not contacted the player since Rafa was forced out 19 days ago.

Insua’s is believed to be targeted by Fiorentina, Fernando Torres by Barcelona and Javier Mascherano, currently captaining his country and learning Italian, is a target of both Barcelona and Inter Milan.

Speculation suggests that Barcelona are interested in Fernando Torres at around £38M.

With Liverpool still managerless, and with some players’ World Cup campaigns ending soon it appears that speculation will only intensify.
